The Solidaridad Museum Project fosters the documentation, study,
and interpretation of solidarity movements related to diverse diasporic communities living in Canada.

The organization's main purpose is to disseminate knowledge about historical events that forced the migration of political exiles and refugees to Canada from various parts of the world.

The Solidaridad Museum celebrates the contributions of these communities to Canada's socio-political fabric and to the struggle for democracy in their countries of origin, helps to preserve the memory of those who made this journey; and contributes to encourage reflection about our responsibilities as Canadians to learn from these historic events in order to participate effectively in current solidarity efforts.

Chile 1973 ... a moment in time.
Photographs by Lynn Murray
part of CONTACT Festival of Contemporary Photography

Opening at Cafe Bernate(Queen and Ossington)

Chile was a unique place in 1973. A Leica, a Canada Council
Grant and curiosity accompanied this Canadian there when she was 25 years old. An exciting revolutionary time with a democratically elected socialist Salvador Allende as president. Powerful and touching these black and white images leave you with a sense of true history. 35 year old negatives give you the feeling of being there.
